The Caring Place was established in 1982 by a coalition of churches serving Golf Manor, Kennedy Heights, Pleasant Ridge, and Silverton. The Caring Places goal is to provide a variety of services to members of our communities who find themselves in need of food, clothing, furniture, rent and utility assistance, family development and support groups.

Volunteers primarily come from participating churches and local schools including Nativity School, Seven Hills Academy, and Schroder Paideia High School.

Christ`s Community in College Hill is a united outreach of several churches serving College Hill. Christ`s Community builds bridges across racial, cultural, economic, social and denominational lines in order to meet the needs of people in the College Hill community.

The Cincinnati-Hamilton County Community Action Agency (CAA) is a private, non-profit organization that has served as a lifeline for low-income children, adults and families throughout Hamilton County for more than four decades. The agency provides a safety net for those who have fallen and a ladder for those who are climbing. Delivering a seamless system of services, CAA and its 300 employees provide assistance with employment, supportive services, home energy efficiency, early childhood education, housing and youth programs.

The Supportive Services program assists individuals in emergency situations
to help them obtain the resources they need.

It provides:

• Bus tokens for individuals who come to our offices for services
• Case management services
• Voucher for lifeline telephone assistance
• Food vouchers
• Rental and mortgage payment assistance
• Water bill payment assistance

It also provide assistance in obtaining:

• Birth certificates
• Police checks
• Prescribed medications
• Referrals for other social services, such as assistance with
  prescription eye glasses and eye exams
• State Identification cards

Supportive Services also refers clients to other CAA services, such as Employment Services, GED classes, Ex-Offender Fresh Start Program, Head Start, Blueprint for Success, and the Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP).

The Mission helps mend lives and create a bridge between people of faith and people who have lost hope. Each year the Mission provides more than 120,000 meals and more than 24,000 nights of shelter to people in need. A hot, delicious meal served with loving kindness can lead a homeless individual to seek the more in-depth help they need to change.

When a homeless and hurting man or woman is ready for the next step in their journey toward health and independence, City Gospel Mission staff and volunteers are there to help. Holistic recovery programs, case management, counseling, and classes are just a few of the many services available to men and women.

Clinton County Community Action Program is a contracted service provider for Council on Aging offering the following services:

Food Pantry

The Community Action Food Pantry is a free service to help families/individuals that are struggling to put food on the table. The service provides applicants with a three day supply of food including, meats, vegetables, and fruits. Each household is eligible one time per month for this service and must be a resident of Clinton County.

Here are the Items needed to apply:

• Picture ID
• Proof of income for the entire household
• Proof of address (something that has been mailed to you within the last 30 days that has your name and address on it, ie. current bill.)

Clients must bring these three items every time they apply for the service.

Congregate Meal Information

Congregate Meals are provided at the Wilmington Senior Center located at 717 N. Nelson Road.  Meals are offered Monday thru Friday at 11:30 am.  Please call 937-382-7170 for more information.

Weatherization

Weatherization is a free service to those who qualify. It is a program designed to make homes more energy efficient. The goal is to create an energy efficient environment that not only is conserving energy, but doing so with health and safety being top priority.

HEAP

A household applying for HEAP must report total gross household income for the past 12 months for all members, except wage or salary income earned by dependent minors under 18 years old.  Both homeowners and renters are eligible for assistance.

Housing

The Clinton Community Action Agency (CCAA) helps to ensure individuals/families are given the opportunity to live in affordable housing. Since 1995 CCAA has been involved in building housing designed to help lower income individuals/families have affordable places to live. Such housing is geared toward people who do not make enough money for market rate rent but make too much for subsidized housing.

Senior Housing

Senior Housing is available in three different complexes.

• Community Commons
  Is off of Nelson Ave in Wilmington and has two and three bedrooms for seniors age 62 and older.
• Clinton Commons I
  Is off Thorne Avenue in Wilmington and has all three bedrooms units for seniors age 55 and older
• Clinton Commons II
  Is also off Nunn Ave in Wilmington all of which are two bedroom units for senior adults age 55 and older

Rent includes water, trash and sewage and washer /dryer hook ups are available in every unit.

Clinton County Homeless shelter offers temporary residence for homeless individuals and families. They also have a 24 hour food pantry.

Community Action Partnership of the Greater Dayton Area is a nonprofit Community Action Agency committed to eliminating poverty and promoting self-sufficiency by providing various programs and services for individuals and families.

Their mission is to work in partnership with local communities to eliminate the causes and conditions of poverty and to promote individual independence and self-sufficiency.

The Esther Marie Hatton Center for Women ensures homeless women in Cincinnati have access to basic human needs such as shelter, food, emergency clothing items, basic toiletries, and safety.

1. FAITH Ministries is a cooperative partnership among seven local churches, United Way of Warren County, Kiwanis to provide emergency relief for persons and families in need .
2. FAITH Ministries is open to meet with persons in our office inside Mason United Methodist Church from 1:00pm to 3:00 pm each Thursday.  We are closed on Thanksgiving Day or when Christmas Day or Christmas Eve falls on Thursday.
3. Emergency support is available for food, rent, utilities (water, gas, electricity, propane, fuel oil), and prescription medications.
4. FAITH Ministries serves Mason and Deerfield Township (and Shadow Lake Trailer Park, which is in the Lebanon School District).
5. Clients must have a letter or bill stating the of date of utility shut-off or eviction including the name of the client, mailing address, and phone number of the provider/landlord.
6. Food assistance is available for clients who are currently receiving Food Stamp benefits.
7. Clients must come in person with picture identification, like a driver’s license, showing current resident address.  if the driver’s license has an old address, then bring a recent bill showing the current address.
8. If client is currently receiving Food Stamps they should bring in the paperwork that shows they are currently receiving benefits.
9. Client must fill out a FAITH financial assistance statement including
o Full Name
o Current resident address
o Telephone Number
o Summary of the monthly income and expenses
 

Food Pantry Services

The Fairfield Food Pantry started as a result of the Fairfield Community Connection Group’s (CCG) community survey in 1996 revealing a need for a food pantry in Fairfield.  CCG’s founder, Howard Dirksen, formed an independent board, solicited start up donations and located the pantry at an available commercial space on Magie Avenue in Fairfield. It has been a growing and successful operation since and has expanded its services as needs arise and change.

Members of the initial board used their expertise in law, business, finance, and volunteerism to incorporate as a  501(c)3 nonprofit, set guidelines and began operation as a nonprofit business.   Today’s board of 13 caring community leaders meet monthly to make decisions on the pantry needs and operation. The pantry is currently blessed with two part time employees who conduct operations three days a week and volunteers who assist as needed.

The Fairfield Food Pantry is thankful to celebrate 20 years of serving our community. We appreciate the tremendous support that we have received from the community and our volunteers and look forward to continuing to serve as long as there is a need. 

Source of Food and Supplies

We rely upon food donated by individuals, churches, schools, community organizations, scout, youth and community institutions. In addition we buy food from Shared Harvest Food Bank, Kroger, Sam’s, Walmart and other local vendors depending upon the best price. It has been a standard in our operation to supply food along with personal care products and household supplies as we feel home and human cleanliness, like food, is important in keeping a family healthy and happy. Civic groups, like Fairfield Women, collect monthly donations of food and also personal care products.

Who does FACS serve?
You are eligible for our services if you live in the area we serve and meet income guidelines. In 2010, FACS assisted 2,180 families, many multiple times, representing a total of 28,692 individuals served. 10,701 food baskets were distributed. 448 families were given financial assistance.

How can I get help?
Come to our building and please bring these things:

• Proof of residence: current bill or piece of mail
• Provide one of the following documents for children: birth certificate, medical card, or school records.
• Picture ID for adults
• Proof of income for financial assistance

Food is available anytime we are open: Monday-Friday, Noon to 3 p.m. and Wednesday, 5 to 7 p.m.

What is the Freestore Foodbank?

The Freestore Foodbank is the largest emergency food provider in the Tri-State area, serving a 20 county region in Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana.  Freestore Foodbank  solicits, collects, purchases and stores food from manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers and government agencies and distribute it to more than 325 nonprofit member agencies that provide free food to those in need. The Freestore Foodbank is a member of Feeding America (formerly America`s Second Harvest), the national network of food banks and food rescue programs. The Freestore Foodbank is an independent nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization.

Addressing a Vital Need

At Graceworks Lutheran Services, everything they do is based on the principles of servant leadership, and building community.  They believe individuals thrive when they live interdependently with others in communities dedicated to upholding personal dignity and fostering wholeness.

They serve people of all faiths through a variety of programs such as assisted living for seniors and persons with disabilities, senior residential communities, companionship services, and community outreach.

The Lighthouse Food Pantry is open Saturday mornings 9:30-12:30. Emergency food is also available at each of the church services and during the week during normal office hours.

The Hope Emergency Program is a 501 (c) (3), social service outreach program.  Every week food, clothing and household items are distributed to an average of 250 families.  In addition to the weekly distribution, a special effort is made to help families recover from personal disasters such as home fires and floods. Services are open to residents of Adams, Brown, Clinton, and Highland counties.

Jewish Family Service is a contracted provider of Council on Aging offering the following services:

• social work counseling
• caregiver support
• recreation
• supportive services

Jewish Family Service of Cincinnati strengthens lives by providing professional social services to families and individuals in times of need.  Many services are available including: aging and caregiver services, adoption connection, counseling, family life education, resettlement acculturation, and vital services support (region's only kosher food pantry).

The Little Miami Food Service is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing emergency food relief to residents living within the Little Miami School District in Southwest Ohio. Operating as the Little Miami Pantry, they accomplish this task by offering temporary food assistance, personal care items and other daily living necessities to those in need.

The Pantry is open every Monday and Friday from 9:00 AM to Noon.

Our vision is much bigger though. We desire to see individuals empowered to go from need to abundance.

Mercy Neighborhood Ministries is a multi-purpose human services agency, sponsored by the Sisters of Mercy.

Caregiver Training

Mercy Neighborhood Ministries provides ongoing training, employment, and retention support for women and men striving to attain self-sufficiency by working as home care aides. These individuals then give back to others by providing compassionate home care for impoverished older adults suffering from infirmity and/or loneliness in their inner-city neighborhoods. 

Senior Programs

Advocacy for seniors 60 years and older living in 45206 and 45207 zip codes consisting of:

• Assistance with budgeting and writing monthly checks
• Assistance with understanding paperwork from government agencies, doctors, etc.
• Accompany to appointments at Social Security office, doctors, etc., in order to help understand individual situation and assist with recertification
• Place phone calls to agencies to access situation
• Assist with fill out paperwork

Crisis Assistance - Hours Monday through Thursday 9am-11:30am:

• Assist with paying rent, utilities or medications if criteria met
• Food Pantry - food bag to feed one person for three days
• Monthly Special "Pantry Day" held the third Tuesday of each month which includes blood pressure check and health assessment with van transportation

Choice pantry that clients may come to once a week. They serve Clermont and Brown counties as well as the surrounding area. Clients are welcome to come early for fellowship.

A Hot Meal

Our Daily Bread provides a warm meal in a comfortable place for all who come to us. Upwards of 500 meals are served daily, Monday through Friday.

Lunch on Legs

This outreach program ensures that senior citizens in the neighborhood who are unable to travel to Our Daily Bread receive a nutritious meal Monday through Friday. We check on the well-being of these seniors and tend to their special needs.

Other Services & Programs

There are many more acts of kindness and outreach from our base of volunteers and supporters. Additional programs include:

• Medical Volunteers of Cincinnati who provide free foot care and shoes.
• A Parish Nurse helps those in need of nursing care.
• Bingo creates a sense of community for our guests and a sense of belonging. 
• Movie Day helps guest fell they are part of the mainstream.
• Ohio Justice and Policy Center attorneys provide free legal services, consultations, advice and referrals, as well as possible representation for ex-offenders who are trying to become productive members of society.
• The Birthday Angels bake and decorate birthday cakes every month for our guests to help celebrate a day that might otherwise go unnoticed.

What is the Rescue Bank Program?

Rescue Bank is a signature program of GreaterGood.org, an international non-profit that benefits People, Pets, and the Planet.

Rescue Bank provides grants to the animal rescue community in the form of donated pet food, delivered through our network of regional affiliates.  We pay to ship the products directly from the donor to the affiliate’s warehouse. Affiliates then distribute these grants to pre-qualified recipients based on demonstrated need and verified census. Pet food grants allow rescue organizations to transfer part of their food budget to much-needed services such as spay/neuter, vet services, facility maintenance or improvement, adoption events, etc.

GreaterGood.org supports many other animal welfare programs, such as Rescue ReBuild, A Shot at Life, and One Picture Saves a Life. Please visit their website for more details on how GreaterGood.org supports rescue groups worldwide.

The center is open Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 10AM to 4PM and serves 150 people each week with groceries, clothing, furniture, and counseling.

Shared Harvest Foodbank collects, warehouses, transports and distributes contributions of wholesome surplus food and other grocery style products to 100+ food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters and similar non-profits in Butler, Warren, Preble, Darke and Miami counties which provide either hot meals or bags of groceries to people in emergency need. The foodbank also is a mixing center providing USDA commodities to five sister foodbanks serving an additional 34 Ohio counties. They distribute an average of 10 million pounds of groceries each year.

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul in Cincinnati is a non-profit organization providing a unique style of personal assistance with food, clothing, medicine, rent, utilities, transportation and companionship to people facing economic, emotional or spiritual crises.

The Charitable Pharmacy

The Charitable Pharmacy is currently open on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays each week to certify up to 12 new clients each day for up to six months of prescription coverage. To get enrolled you will need proof of residence, verification of income and expenses for all household members, and original or faxed prescriptions. The pharmacy serves clients from Butler, Clermont, Hamilton, and Warren Counties.

Edyth & Carl Lindner Choice Food Pantry

For those requesting assistance with food, the Edyth & Carl Lindner Choice Food Pantry is open every Tuesday, Friday and Saturday 10 a.m. to noon at our West End Office at 1125 Bank Street.  Those living in the following zip codes are welcome to come: 45202, 45203, 45214, 45219, 45225, 45229, 45232. For those living outside the zip code range, please call (513) 421-0602 to locate a food pantry in your area.

Homelessness Prevention

St. Vincent de Paul`s help is diverse and far-reaching, but it begins in prevention.  For those living paycheck to paycheck an unexpected expense such as a car repair or a child`s medical bill can set the whole household over budget.  Often a small investment to help with a rent or utility bill will save a family from eviction or having water or electricity turned off and ultimately catches them before they become homeless.

St. Vincent de Paul, Dayton District Council is a 501(C)(3) organization that assists the homeless and impoverished by sharing God’s love by providing emergency shelter, transitional housing, food, clothing, household items, and guidance to leading a self-sufficient life. We provide aid to those on the brink of losing housing, those who are currently homeless, and to those working to secure permanent housing. The Healing Center is a resource for food , clothing, job coaching and connections, finanical programs , healthcare, spiritual care and misc classes. We have a data base of resources that we refer out guest to as needed.
