ARCS provides each sheltered family with a safe place to make decisions and to discuss often complicated relationships, dire financial and legal circumstances, health problems, contradictory feelings and confused thinking.  Each resident is aided in setting his/her direction and goals through a detailed case plan that reflects the diversity of each residents needs, circumstances, and future direction.  Each is informed of domestic violence dynamics, dangers, and health risks for them and their children through groups and individual sessions.

The mission of Angel Place Shelter is to provide a protective shelter for women who are victims of domestic violence and rape.

Bethany House Services collaborates with others to provide a full range of housing, education, and assistance programs to homeless and disadvantaged women and children.

HIV/AIDS Housing Programs and Services

Caracole House

Caracole House has been offering affordable, comfortable housing for adults with HIV/AIDS since 1988. People who reside in Caracole House receive case management and referral services as well as mutual caring and 24- hour support from staff and residents.

Caracole House is open to individuals with HIV/AIDS who have no appropriate alternative living option. The House is a four-unit apartment building that houses up to eleven individuals. Each resident has his or her own bedroom in a three-bedroom suite. Food, linen and household supplies are provided. An evening meal is prepared for community residents, and food is available for all other meals.

Caracole House is supported by the United Way, the City of Cincinnati and other funders.

 Shelter Plus Care

Shelter Plus Care is a rent subsidy program for homeless individuals living with HIV/AIDS and their families. HUD provides the rental subsidies. Caracole provides intensive case management and supportive services to help these individuals and their families find and maintain appropriate housing and stay together.

Shelter Plus Care is partially funded by the US Department of Housing and Urban Development and the State of Ohio.

Caracole Recovery Community

The Caracole Recovery Community opened its doors in 2000 and offers housing and a program of recovery from chemical dependency for homeless adults living with HIV/AIDS. In addition to providing case management and referral services, the Recovery Community offers a 24-hour supportive environment allowing residents to attain self-sufficiency and to recover from addiction.

The Caracole Recovery Community is supported by the US Department of Housing and Urban Development, the United Way and the City of Cincinnati.

The sole purpose of Charlie`s 3/4 House, Inc. is to provide acceptable and affordable housing for alcoholic men in the early stages of sobriety, while they work on their recovery from alcoholism and find suitable employment.
 
Founded in 1979, Charlie`s 3/4 House, Inc. began with one man offering a newly recovering alcoholic a safe place to stay for a short time.  Today, Charlie`s 3/4 House, Inc. provides transitional housing for approximately 200 residents per year, with occupancy throughout the year consistently over 96% and a waiting list of 8-12 men.
 
Charlie`s residential program requires that a potential resident will have completed a recognized  program. Further, the applicant will have demonstrated his commitment to continuous sobriety, a willingness to find gainful employment and agrees to attend daily AA meetings.
 
Once admitted each person must submit to random drug/alcohol screenings and follow the plan outlined during their detox program and follow the 12 recovery steps of Alcoholics Anonymous.
Each year, of the 200 different residents who live at Charlie`s (each for a various length of time), over 100 of these men return to the community meeting our definition of success.  The criteria used to define success are that:

The resident has maintained over 90 days of continuous sobriety,
·         The resident has secured gainful continuous employment, and
·         His earnings are sufficient to allow the resident to financially support himself,  and
·         The resident, when he leaves Charlie`s  moves into their own living quarters or moves back to live with their family, from whom he had been estranged.
 

The Cincinnati/Hamilton County Continuum of Care for the Homeless, Inc. operates the Central Access Point (CAP) program. CAP is a telephone service that serves as the intake point for several important local programs.

 CAP:

• handles the placement of homeless families into the Cincinnati Family Emergency Shelters (Bethany House, the Interfaith Hospitality Network, Salvation Army, Mercy Franciscan-St. Johns).

• screens callers for domestic violence and, if appropriate, transfers such calls to the YWCA Domestic Violence Hotline for possible placement into protective shelter.

• handles intake services for the Mt. Airy Shelter, a 65 bed shelter for single men which is operated by Talbert House.

• handles screening & referral into the Salvation Army Family Homelessness Prevention Program.

• handles screening and referral of households in need of homelessness prevention services which are funded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).

• takes calls related to family emergency shelters and homelessness prevention from 10am-8pm Monday through Friday, and from 10am-2pm on Saturday and Sunday.

The Mission helps mend lives and create a bridge between people of faith and people who have lost hope. Each year the Mission provides more than 120,000 meals and more than 24,000 nights of shelter to people in need. A hot, delicious meal served with loving kindness can lead a homeless individual to seek the more in-depth help they need to change.

When a homeless and hurting man or woman is ready for the next step in their journey toward health and independence, City Gospel Mission staff and volunteers are there to help. Holistic recovery programs, case management, counseling, and classes are just a few of the many services available to men and women.

Clinton County Homeless shelter offers temporary residence for homeless individuals and families. They also have a 24 hour food pantry.

COHHIO has provided voice for the underrepresented for more than 30 years, originating as the Ohio Housing Coalition (formed in 1974), then merging in 1994 with the Ohio Coalition for the Homeless (formed in 1984). With a mission of ending homelessness and promoting affordable housing, COHHIO is involved in a range of housing assistance services in Ohio, including homeless prevention, emergency shelters, transitional housing and permanent affordable housing with linkages to supportive services. COHHIO assists hundreds of housing organizations and homeless service providers in Ohio through public policy advocacy, training and technical assistance, research and public education.

The mission of the Family Violence Prevention Center is to reduce family and relationship violence and its impact in Greene County through prevention, intervention, safe-housing and collaborative community programs.

The Garden Street Transitional Home provides a structured, sober living environment with supportive services for homeless men who have recently been released from prison. 

The Greater Cincinnati Coalition for the Homeless (GCCH) was formed in May of 1984 for one purpose: the eradication of homelessness in Cincinnati. What started out as a coalition of 15 volunteers meeting weekly in an unheated church basement has since grown into a Coalition of over 45 agencies and hundreds of volunteers.

GCCH member organizations serve the homeless through emergency shelter, transitional living facilities, permanent housing, medical services, social services, soup kitchens, and mental health/addictions services. Membership primarily consists of organizations serving the homeless in the Greater Cincinnati/Tri-State area, Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana. GCCH membership base also includes individuals and volunteers dedicated to improving services for homeless individuals, educating the public about homelessness and empowering homeless individuals to advocate for their civil rights and housing needs.

The Coalition performs three areas of work: coordinating services, educating the public, and grassroots organizing and advocacy. Homeless and formerly homeless individuals are incorporated into all programs and initiatives at the Coalition.

HERCincinnati, formerly Cincinnati Union Bethel, has been caring for people in Cincinnati since 1830. HER operates three programs: Early Childhood Education at four Head Start preschools, which provide kindergarten readiness and care for children ages three to five; the Anna Louise Inn, which provides low-income housing for women; and Off the Streets, which provides support and rehabilitation services for prostituted women. As the oldest social service agency in Cincinnati, HER remains grounded in a core set of values that are dedicated to helping women, children, families, and communities unleash their greatest potential.

The Haven House Emergency Shelter first opened it`s doors in 1982, providing homeless men, women & children with a clean and comfortable place to stay. The Haven House Emergency Shelter is open 365 days a year, 24 hours a day. Haven House supplys two hot meals a day with a snack for lunch and milk/formula for infants and children; we also provide necessary clothing and shoes as well as toiletry items. The Haven House not only provides the basic needs but also prides itself on helping those who are homeless establish a more secure future before leaving the shelter.

Founded in 1987, Hope House Mission (HHM) is a 501(C)(3) faith-based ministry, serving homeless men, women and children in Butler, Warren, and surrounding counties in Southwest Ohio. Much more than an emergency shelter, HHM provides comprehensive programs and services designed to promote long-term, sustainable life transformation.

Hope House Center for Men accommodates 50 men. Daily lunch, clothing and household items are also available to the public in need. The Seek and Find Employment program is designed to prepare clients to identify and seek employment opportunities that offer a career path, rather than a survival-mode job. Clients are taught: work ethics, job responsibilities, "skill building blocks," and tenets of the "Dress for Success" program.

Hope House Shelter for Women and Children accommodates 50 women and their children. More than a roof over their head, it is a place that provides a much needed sense of safety and security. CWC is one of the few local shelters to welcome children. Poverty and housing instability are especially harmful during early childhood, often causing problems in school ... if the child even makes it to school. To combat these problems, children at CWC are provided tutors, mentors and transportation.

Shelter available to families with children

Transforming the lives of families experencing homelessness.

The shelter is available to any homeless persons with priority given to Clermont County citizens and is open 365 days a year 24 hours a day. Clients are able to stay up to 60 days. Three meals are provided daily along with laundry services free of charge. Once a person enters the shelter they must adhere to standards including a curfew, no drugs or alcohol, and must obtain employment within one week. If a person is eligible and waiting on social security, workers comp, etc. they are exempt from finding employment within one week. Case Management services are provided to assist clients with goals and obtaining housing. Financial Assistance is available for rent and security deposits for persons exiting the shelter.

The shelter is located at 2403 Old St. Rt. 32 behind the Central Joint Fire Station. The number for the shelter is 513-732-6464. It is through the numerous donors that give every year that helps make the program a success.

The shelter can always use donations of household products.

For clients coming out of the state hospital or other institutional environments, GCB provides a safe living environment at Kemper House. Clients can begin to reconnect with the community as they work toward independent housing. GCB provides 24-hour, supervised living arrangements for 15 clients.

Mt. Airy Center has been serving the homeless since 1937. Today, Mt. Airy works exclusively with homeless men to provide emergency shelter and social services that help clients solve many of the problems that have left them with no place to call home. Mt. Airy maintains 65 beds and is occupied at rates greater than 98 per cent. The Center can not accept sexual offenders, arsonists, or men with open felony or misdemeanor warrants.

The Red Cross Family Living Center is currently located at 829 South Gettysburg Avenue in Dayton. There are 36 apartment units offered through the program. Typically, families reside in the units for 60-90 days. There is also 1 unit designated as a school unit that children can attend after school tutoring in during the regular school year.

For more than 100 years The Salvation Army has been providing assistance to people with a variety of social and spiritual afflictions through its 119 United States based Adult Rehabilitation Centers (ARCs).  The Centers serve people suffering from substance misuse, legal problems, relational conflicts, homelessness, and unemployment.

Mission

The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center ministries in the U.S. provide an in-residence rehabilitation program with a focus on basic necessities. Each beneficiary (program participant) is provided with a clean and healthy living environment, good food, work therapy, leisure time activities, group and individual counseling, spiritual direction, and resources to assist each person to develop life skills. 

Shelter for women and children only

St. Francis - St. Joseph House operates as an emergency, short term homeless shelter. St. Francis - St. Joseph House offesr shelter to sixteen men, with most stays limited to eight weeks. Exceptions depend upon circumstances. Three meals a day are provided. The men must have goals, work on those goals, and start a savings account within three weeks.

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul in Cincinnati is a non-profit organization providing a unique style of personal assistance with food, clothing, medicine, rent, utilities, transportation and companionship to people facing economic, emotional or spiritual crises.

The Charitable Pharmacy

The Charitable Pharmacy is currently open on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays each week to certify up to 12 new clients each day for up to six months of prescription coverage. To get enrolled you will need proof of residence, verification of income and expenses for all household members, and original or faxed prescriptions. The pharmacy serves clients from Butler, Clermont, Hamilton, and Warren Counties.

For those requesting assistance with food, the Edyth & Carl Lindner Choice Food Pantry is open every Tuesday, Friday and Saturday 10 a.m. to noon at our West End Office at 1125 Bank Street.  Those living in the following zip codes are welcome to come: 45202, 45203, 45214, 45219, 45225, 45229, 45232. For those living outside the zip code range, please call (513) 421-0602 to locate a food pantry in your area. 

Please bring the following documentation with you:

1. Picture ID, Social Security Cards or a printout for the entire household.
2. Proof of address, for example a recent utility bill or any piece of mail with your name and address on it, postmarked within the last 30 days.

Homelessness Prevention

St. Vincent de Paul`s help is diverse and far-reaching, but it begins in prevention.  For those living paycheck to paycheck an unexpected expense such as a car repair or a child`s medical bill can set the whole household over budget.  Often a small investment to help with a rent or utility bill will save a family from eviction or having water or electricity turned off and ultimately catches them before they become homeless.

St. Vincent de Paul, Dayton District Council is a 501(C)(3) organization that assists the homeless and impoverished by sharing God’s love by providing emergency shelter, transitional housing, food, clothing, household items, and guidance to leading a self-sufficient life. We provide aid to those on the brink of losing housing, those who are currently homeless, and to those working to secure permanent housing. Adolescent Substance Abuse Outpatient
Adolescent Substance Abuse Outpatient is a non-residential treatment program providing assessment and treatment for adolescents (ages 12-17) whose primary diagnosis is a substance use disorder. Services include individual and family counseling, group counseling and case management.

Adult Substance Abuse Services
This program provides comprehensive chemical dependency assessment and treatment options to men and women who are best served in an outpatient setting. Services include individual and group counseling, intensive outpatient group services, continuing care, and random drug testing. Supportive services may include family and culturally specific counseling, employment readiness, and referrals to other needed services. Adult Services also provides outpatient services to clients dually diagnosed with mental illness and substance abuse issues and housing case management to clients in the Shelter Plus Care Program. Alcohol and Drug Addiction Partnership Treatment (ADAPT) for Men and Women 
The comprehensive residential and outpatient program provides assessment, treatment, and reintegration services for drug and alcohol addicted adults charged with drug-driven felony offenses through the Hamilton County Drug Court. Services include chemical dependency education and treatment, criminality/behavior modification, frequent and random drug testing, vocational/educational services, family counseling, and a variety of supportive services. Alternatives
Alternatives is a treatment program providing assessment and treatment exclusively for adolescent males ages 12-17. The goal is to provide gender-specific treatment for adolescent males by using a cognitive-behavioral approach to address issues of substance abuse, criminality, victimization, grief, anger, and family dysfunction. Alternatives offers residential care, intensive outpatient, aftercare, and drug education groups.

The Bridge
The Bridge is a residential facility designed to provide assessment, treatment, and reintegration programming to adolescent males ages 12-17 experiencing difficulty with daily functioning due to mental/behavioral health issues. The program is dedicated to providing the highest quality service in the least restrictive environment possible. Services include individual, group, and family therapy. In addition, psychiatric and nursing services are available to each client.

Brown County Recovery Services
Brown County Recovery Services offers a broad range of substance abuse services and mental health assessment, treatment, and prevention services to the children, adolescents, adults, and families of Brown County and surrounding areas. The program works in collaboration with the educational and criminal justice systems, the county Department of Job and Family Services, and the medical community to provide individualized services and promote healthy behaviors and improve life skills within families, schools and the community.

Community Correctional Center (CCC)
A Community Based Correctional Facility (CBCF) located in Warren County, CCC has provided residential assessment, treatment, and reintegration programming for adult male felony offenders from Butler, Clermont, and Warren Counties since 1995.

Community Link
Community Link is a welfare-to-work program that provides coordinated services to Ohio Works First (OWF) recipients in order to facilitate their transition to work placement and self-sufficiency. Community Link is a collaboration of the following agencies: Talbert House, Easter Seals Work Resource Center, Recovery Link Inc. and the Alcoholism Council. Other agencies working with the collaboration are Jewish Vocational Services, Crossroads and Greater Cincinnati Behavioral Health.

Cornerstone 
Cornerstone is a community corrections program for federal and state offenders that offers assessment, treatment, and reintegration for adult male ex-offenders in a residential setting. Services include case management, chemical dependency treatment, criminality/behavior modification, restitution and child support, frequent and random drug testing, education, employment readiness, verified and monitored community employment, and a variety of supportive activities. 

Day Reporting
This community corrections program provides treatment and reintegration services to Hamilton County probationers. Using a cognitive-behavioral approach, the program ensures a high level of accountability through targeted interventions. The program is a partnership with the Hamilton County Courts. Services are coordinated through a treatment team that include monitoring, daily reporting, substance abuse treatment, random drug screens, risk/needs assessment, and life skills training. Job search assistance, educational services and financial management services are available. 

Driver Intervention Program (DIP)
Certified by the Ohio Department of Alcohol and Drug Addiction Services (ODADAS), DIP provides prevention and assessment within a jail alternative setting for first-time DUI offenders in the state of Ohio. The program is designed to reduce the likelihood of repeated DUI behavior and runs every weekend, Thursday evening through Sunday afternoon. A 48-hour adolescent program is scheduled four to six times per year, and women’s weekends are held 10 times per year. Services include alcohol and drug education, traffic safety, and referral. Bilingual counselors and materials are also available for Spanish and Russian-speaking clients. 
 

Extended Treatment Certified by the Ohio Department of Alcohol and Drug Addiction Services (ODADAS), DIP provides prevention and assessment within a jail alternative setting for first-time DUI offenders in the state of Ohio. This jail-based, chemical dependency program provides substance abuse assessment, treatment, and reintegration for adult misdemeanant men sentenced by the Hamilton County Courts. Services include counseling, continuing care, criminality programming, employment readiness, and life skills development with specialty tracks for anger management, relapse prevention, assaultive behavior/domestic violence, criminality/behavior modification, and family issues.

Fatherhood Project 
This program assists men in their efforts to become the responsible, committed and nurturing fathers they want to be. Inter-Agency School Crisis Team 
The Inter-Agency School Crisis Team is trained to respond to crisis situations and have experience in dealing with children, adolescents and school staff. The team’s mission is to help schools respond effectively during times of crises. This service is provided through a collaboration between Talbert House, Centerpoint Health, Central Clinic, Red Cross, and Cincinnati Children’s Hospital and Medical Center. Jail Intervention for Men
Jail Intervention for Men (JIM) is a program for incarcerated men with interpersonal violence or drug-related charges. Services offered include assessment, counseling for criminal thinking and behavior, anger management, alcohol and drug abuse education, relationships, life skills development and reentry planning.

Mental Health Court Day Reporting 
This program provides treatment and reintegration as an alternative to incarceration for Hamilton County residents with a mental health diagnosis. The program is a collaboration between the Mental Health Court Team, Crossroads Center and Greater Cincinnati Behavioral Health. Using a cognitive behavior approach, services include monitoring, daily reporting, case management, drug testing, risk/needs assessment and life skills training. Job search assistance, educational services and financial management services are available. 

Parkway Center 
Parkway Center is a shelter that works with homeless men with substance abuse and mental health issues to provide emergency shelter and social services that help clients solve many of the problems that have left them with no place to call home.

Passages
Passages is a residential facility serving adolescent females ages 12-17 referred primarily by the Hamilton County Juvenile Court. The program uses gender-responsive techniques to provide assessment, treatment, and reintegration by offering intensive case management services and family counseling for the youth and each family member. The program uses positive, strength-based interventions utilizing a rewards system and cognitive-behavioral therapy techniques. Services are provided where needed, such as in the facility, at the youth’s home, and in the community.

Pathways 
For over 20 years, Pathways has served the community by providing assessment, treatment, and transition for adult female felons and misdemeanants in a residential setting followed by aftercare services. Gender-responsive services include community monitoring, cognitive-behavioral therapy, chemical dependency, and employment services. 

Project PASS (Partnerships for Academic Success in Schools) 
Project PASS is a mental health and substance abuse program providing assessment, prevention, education services, case management and an overall support program for school-aged children and their parents through a partnership with schools. It provides flexible, unique and cost-effective support services promoting healthy functioning in schools, home and the community. Staff members address the social, emotional, and behavioral health needs of students and families.

Project STEPS
Project STEPS (Solutions That Empower Parents and Students) is a youth and family centered program made up of three programs; Family Peer Support, Project WRAP, and Cincy After School.  Family Peer Support offers support to families with school age children experiencing behavioral difficulties or need support managing services or resources for their child or family. Project WRAP develops and implements plans for children and their families who have very complex needs by promoting healthy functioning in school, home and the community. Cincy After School provides a quality experience through academic achievement opportunities, anti-drug/anti-violence programs, and other recreational and educational activities at Shroder High School.

Recovery Halfway House
This residential substance abuse program provides assessment, employment and chemical dependency services, and reintegration for drug-dependent and homeless men.

Rewards Jail Intervention (RJI)
RJI is a residential, jail-based, chemical dependency program for adult women referred by the Hamilton County Courts. RJI uses gender-responsive techniques to provide assessment, treatment, and reintegration with programming that includes education and intensive discharge planning by addressing matters of chemical dependency, mental health, prostitution, and criminality.

Second Chance Reentry is a community corrections program that offers adult non-violent ex-offenders in Hamilton County a full array of reintegration services to help them successfully return to the community, including job training, case management, social support, and mentoring. This partnership is between Talbert House and Urban League of Greater Cincinnati, Transformation Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky, Allen Temple, Dress for Success, and Ohio Justice and Policy Center.

Section Road Center
Second Chance is a Department of Justice/Hamilton County collaborative with Talbert House acting as the lead agency. The program serves men and women returning to Hamilton County communities from local jails. Clients are enrolled into the program for a minimum of six months. Services include pre and post release assessment, service planning, cognitive behavioral groups and individual sessions, case management, and employment services.

Serenity Hall
Located in Butler County, Serenity Hall is a community corrections program that provides assessment, treatment, and reintegration for adult males in a residential setting. Services available include case management, chemical dependency treatment, criminality/behavior modification, restitution and child support, frequent and random drug testing, education, employment readiness, verified and monitored community employment, and a variety of supportive activities.

Spring Grove Center
Spring Grove Center is a community corrections program that provides assessment, treatment, and reintegration for adult males in a residential setting. Services available include case management, chemical dependency treatment, criminality/behavior modification, restitution and child support, frequent and random drug testing, education, employment readiness, verified and monitored community employment, and a variety of supportive activities. 

Substance Abuse Prevention 
This program targets the prevention of substance use and abuse among youth. The goals are to increase effective coping skills and to identify at-risk youth and link them to the appropriate treatment resources.

Turning Point 
This chemical dependency community corrections program for Hamilton County provides assessment, treatment, and reintegration services in a residential setting for adult men convicted of a second or multiple DUI or alcohol and drug offenses. Services include orientation, assessment, educational sessions, individual, group and family counseling, a six-month Continuing Care Program, and other supportive activities. 

Turtle Creek Center (TCC)
Located in Warren County, TCC provides assessment, treatment, and transitional services. Programming includes community monitoring, cognitive-behavioral groups, substance abuse treatment, employment services, as well as other specialized treatment services. Since 2003, TCC has served adult males in a residential halfway house setting serving 15 Southwestern Ohio counties.

Union Day School
Union Day School is an alternative school program for Butler County students who are experiencing serious emotional and behavorial challenges impacting academic success. The program provides three types of services: intensive school-based treatment, in-classroom support and outpatient clinic. This partnership is between Talbert House and Butler County Educational Service Center.

Veteran's Services
Residential and outpatient substance abuse and mental health services are provided to Veterans in the Talbert House service area. Additional programming includes the Fatherhood Project and transitional housing for homeless veterans. These services are tailored to ensure the success of veterans as they reintegrate back in to the community after their service to our country.

Warren Outpatient Services
Warren Outpatient Services offers accessible and affordable substance abuse treatment including assessment , group and individual counseling to adults and adolescents, so that they can regain control of their lives. The program also provides services for those who have been dually diagnosed with substance abuse and mental illness. The Healing Center is a resource for food , clothing, job coaching and connections, finanical programs , healthcare, spiritual care and misc classes. We have a data base of resources that we refer out guest to as needed.

• Joseph House`s mission is to meet the needs of the homeless veterans of our community. Services are available to men and women.
• Joseph House provides outreach to homeless veterans through its "Landing Zone" at 1526 Republic Street, and through collaboration with other agencies in the local HUD Continuum of Care.
• The Joseph House campus has the capacity to provide housing for up to 105 veterans.

Up to 36 of the residents participate in a treatment program certified by the Ohio Department of Alcohol and Drug Addiction Services. The treatment program involves daily group sessions, individual counseling and case management to help the resident know and resolve the issues that caused their homelessness.

Transitional housing in a safe, supportive, abstinence-based recovery environment is available after completion of the halfway house program. Residents are not put under the pressure of a clock. Residents working a recovery program may reside on campus for as long as they need to achieve economic stability and permanent housing. The Joseph House also provides permanent housing for disabled veterans who have completed our program, are in recovery, and need a long term safe and structured environment.

We provide free confidential services to over 12,000 people each year. Women Helping Women recognizes those who experience abuse and assault are not helpless victims of crime.
