August 27, 2024 UPDATE! During the extreme heat event anticipated for August 27-28, 2024, the following cooling centers may be open. We recommend you call ahead before you leave for one to ensure it is open, as they centers are not run by Council on Aging.
If you or someone you know is unable to stay safely cool in their home, we encourage visiting a nearby cooling center during the heat of the day.
A number of organizations in Council on Aging’s five-county region open their doors as cooling centers during extreme heat events.
