Home health aides play a critical role in helping older adults live with dignity and independence in their homes and communities. Council on Aging (COA) contracts with area home health agencies whose employees provide in-home care services to more than 26,000 older adults in southwestern Ohio. Annually, COA recognizes one or more home health aides whose outstanding service has made an impact on their clients’ lives.
In October, COA recognized Lauren Bryan of Always There Healthcare as a 2023 Home Health Aide Hero. COA’s Chief Financial Officer, Ronnell Spears, presented the award to Bryan at her workplace. Spears praised Bryan’s prioritization of giving purpose to her clients, a key factor that stood out in her nomination.
Bryan, a single mother of two, is adept at juggling responsibilities and being flexible to meet her clients’ needs. In accepting the award, she shared her passion for her career and her dedication to helping others.
Bryan was selected for the award from among nearly 100 nominated home health aides. She was nominated by Sara Pearce, owner and managing director of Always There Healthcare, who was present at the awards presentation. In her nomination, Pearce shared:
“Lauren is calm, organized and always makes her clients feel important. She has a demeanor that is calming and makes everyone feel comfortable in her presence. Her attitude every day is to give clients purpose as they age in their home. From organizing their belongings to creating daily calendars, she keeps clients engaged and really cares for each of them.”
“Lauren’s exceptional work is a testament to the vital role of home health aides in meeting the care needs of a growing population,” said COA’s Spears. “On behalf of everyone at COA, I extend my thanks and congratulations to Lauren on this well-deserved recognition as a Home Health Aide Hero.”
