Janice is Council on Aging’s Manger of Accounting. Below she shares her experience as a COA team member.
How many years have you worked for COA?
Almost 2.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
Mastering project and fund accounting for ESP, PASSPORT, Title III and non-Medicaid programs and grants. Providing knowledge and direct experience of accountancy and financial management to co-workers endeavoring to excel in their accountancy work assignments.
What is your proudest moment during your time at COA?
My proudest moment occurred when our accounting intern shared his sincere appreciation and gratitude for his internship at Council on Aging and for the in-depth accounting knowledge and understanding of accounting principles and applications he gained during his internship.
What is the most rewarding thing about your job?
Servant leadership.
Explain how you have grown during your time as a COA employee. What contributed to this growth?
I’ve experienced growth in complexity of project/program accountancy. I’ve invested personal time to study and learn financial management for our agency.
Why do you continue to work at COA?
So I can continue being a servant leader as a professional accountant and to continue inspiring others to pursue a rewarding career in accounting.
