John is a supervisor in Council on Aging’s Aetna program. Below he shares his COA experience.
How many years have you worked for COA?
Almost nine.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
I enjoy the ability to connect with not only dedicated staff but people in the community that benefit from COA’s mission.
What is the most rewarding thing about your job? Why?
The most rewarding part of my current job is being able use my years of experience at COA to help staff assist the people we serve. I personally enjoy helping people and have made it my life’s mission to do so.
Explain how you have grown during your time as a COA employee. What contributed to this growth?
I’ve found a new and deep dedication assisting the people that COA serves. Working alongside of like-minded individuals has allowed me to gain the knowledge necessary to assist those in need. I have first-hand experience with my parents needing more assistance and services to help keep them in their home as long as possible. This new empathy I have developed has helped me grow further as I help the members we serve in doing the same.
Why do you continue to work at COA?
The culture of COA is one of support and friendship. I enjoy working at a business that wants to help the community.
What would you say to encourage someone who is considering working here to apply?
Do it! Apply! COA is a great team with a great mission.
