On August 1, the Metropolitan Sewer District of Greater Cincinnati (MSD) will begin offering a Customer Assistance Program (CAP) to help low-income senior citizens pay their sewer bills. The program will give seniors a 25-percent discount on their bill each month.
To receive the discount, seniors must be eligible for the program. To be eligible, they must be homeowners and living in that home with an annual adjusted gross income of $32,800 or less. They must be an MSD customer and age 65 or older.
“A lot of our seniors who have fixed incomes need every saving opportunity that they can get,” said Council on Aging Housing Specialist Johnathan Crum. “This program was created to help our seniors age in place and relieve some of their cost burden.”
The 25-percent discount on each bill averages out to about $120 per year or $10 per month in savings.
To apply, seniors must complete an application. Documentation showing proof of age and proof of income must be submitted with the application.
