COA’s Clinton County office has moved to a new Wilmington location. Now located within the Smith-Feike-Minton Insurance building at 2333 Rombach Avenue, the office includes an Aging and Disability Resource Center that is open to the public Tuesdays, 8 am-4:30 pm and Wednesdays and Thursdays, 9 am-12 pm.
During these hours, a COA staff member is available to assist those who wish to talk face-to-face with a representative about enrolling in COA services or programs, like the Clinton County Elderly Services Program. Clinton County residents can also call (937) 449-0642 to talk to a COA representative Monday – Friday, 7 am to 6:30 pm, or use the contact form at www.help4seniors.org to make in inquiry.
COA first opened its first Clinton County office in June 2014, just down the road from the new location. COA’s main office is in Springdale, but the Clinton County office is important so COA staff can work closer to the clients they serve and visit on a regular basis.
“Over the last four years, our Clinton County staff have gotten to know the community and the needs of the older adults who live here,” said Ken Wilson, Vice President of Program Operations at Council on Aging. “We needed a space where our staff could maintain that close connection with the community and where people felt comfortable stopping in or calling to talk with someone about their needs. This new space does that.”
COA administers the Clinton County Elderly Services Program through a contract with the Clinton County Commissioners. The program receives 86 percent of its funding from a 1.5-mill senior services tax levy. The rest of the funding comes from state and federal funds allocated by Council on Aging, client donations and client co-payments.
The program provides home delivered meals, housekeeping help, medical transportation, personal care and other basic services to help older adults remain independent in their homes. In 2017, the program served 511 seniors throughout Clinton County. Read more in the program’s 2017 annual report.
