Senior Services Advocacy Alert

Ohio's home care services for seniors could be cut -- we need your help!

Take action: Please call Ohio legislators Wednesday June 17!

"I think this is a great idea to keep people in their homes... It's a great comfort to me." ~ Jack, home care client

Home and community-based services are at risk in the state budget debate. Voice your opinion to those who count by making calls to key state officials. For June 17, we want to call, not email. Let your voice be heard!

Here are the basic messages for your phone calls, but feel free to use your own words and personal experiences:

Messages for professionals and concerned advocates:
  • Home and community-based care is the solution with the biggest impact for Ohio's budget problems. This is because it costs so much less than nursing home care.
  • Allow seniors to remain in their homes. Do not cut PASSPORT, Assisted Living or Senior Center Services, such as transportation.
  • Home care is compassionate and cost-effective!
Messages for home care clients and their families:

Please don't take away home care services! Keep PASSPORT open. Keep Assisted Living open. Seniors want to keep their independence and dignity. We want to remain in our homes for as long as we can.

Here's who to call. Try to call as many as you can, preferably everyone on the list. If you get voicemail, leave your message. If you get a busy signal, keep trying.
