Find COA on Facebook, YouTube
To keep up with the growing number of older adults who are turning to the Internet for information and socialization, Council on Aging has joined the ranks of non-profits who are sharing information on sites like Facebook and YouTube.
According to The Pew Internet and American Life Project, Boomers (ages 45-63) make up 35 percent of the Internet-using population. The biggest increase in Internet users is among those ages. Since 2005, Internet usage among this age group has increased almost 20 percent, from 25 percent in 2005 to 45 percent in 2008. Additionally, women age 55 and older make up the fastest growing user group on Facebook. (InsideFacebook.com)
In addition to our Facebook and YouTube pages, we have also made changes to our Web site, www.help4seniors.org. The site is easier to navigate and more interactive. Visitors can use a housing search (that you can customize to your needs), sign up to receive our e-newsletter, stay informed on important aging-related issues at the local, state and national levels, and search the comprehensive Help4Seniors Resource Directory.
Whether you visit us online or pick up the phone, you can look to COA as a trusted resource for answers on aging. |
